HANAH-AMTC Taekwondo Team cadet girls’ novice won the over-all title in the 38th Smart National Taekwondo Championships over the weekend at the Ninoy Aquino Memorial Stadium in Manila.

The gold medalists are Angeli Lesaguis and Jessa Mae Casaña of the St. Joseph School-La Salle (SJS-LS), Ricah Mae Lesaguis of West Negros University (WNU), and Franchesca Nicole Cabrera of Doña Montserrat High School in Silay City.

Vic Feria’s Hanah gym also finished silver in the cadet boys’ advance and grade school boys novice and settled for bronze in the cadet boys novice and grade school girls novice.

Winning the silver in the cadet boys’ advance are Marcus Ernesto Hinojas and Jan Mickael Casaña from SJS-LS alongside Keith Smart Docado of Murcia National High School (MNHS), Joshua Rosalia of Trinity Christian School (TCS), and Dex Ian Chavez of Dr. Vicente Memorial National High School in Cadiz City as alternate of Living Heritage Christian Academy’ Deb Matthew Daclan.

Daclan missed the action in the tournament after the supposed July 27 match was moved one day before the actual schedule, July 26. Daclan is in South Korea for the Korea Open and the annual training of the national team.

“It was just unfortunate because we are looking at a three-peat this year. I just told my players that it wasn’t yet our time,” Feria said.

Hanah Taekwondo also finished first runner-up in the grade school boys’ novice behind John Matthew Castelo of St. Scholastica’s Academy (SSA), Hans Andrew Bertucio of Educational Training Center School, Lemarj Fhran Nualda of J.O.Y Christian School, and University of St. La Salle (USLS) Jude Cedric Lesaguis and Carlos Yuan Zayco-Magno.

Meanwhile, settling second runner-up are cadet boys’ novice Lester Paolo Escasinas and Creoz Celiz of MNHS, and Edgardo Deriada Jr. and Ezekiel Lojares of USLS; and grade school girls Andea Rei Naria of SSA, Denise Lojares of USLS, Francesca Antoinette Ascalon of TCS, and Lexine Gabrielle Lapu-os and Ela Carmeli Delas Alas of SJI.
