HIMAMAYLAN City's Ian Clark Bautista won the only gold for the Philippine Boxing Team in the just-concluded 2014 China Open International Boxing Tournament at Guizhou Gymnasium in Guiyang Province, China.

Bautista, gold medal winner in last year’s Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships, topped the men’s flyweight division against South Korean and Chinese boxers.

The Negrense slugger said he is happy to win the gold medal which brings pride to the Philippines.

“I would like to thank all who prayed for me and supported me,” he added.

Last year’s output included one gold, a pair of silvers and a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, the national team also collected two silver medals from Rey Saludar and Charly Suarez in controversial championship matches in the recent 4th President’s Cup in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Both tournaments serve as the selection process of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines on who among the Filipino boxers will comprise the team for the upcoming 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
