THOUSANDS of marathon runners across the country and abroad are expected to converge in Dumaguete City when this year’s Dumaguete Adventure Marathon (DAM) Challenge reels off on November.

Victor Vicente “Dean” Sinco, vice president for finance and administration Frontrunner's Foundation University (FU), and Dr. Aparicio (Perry) Mequi, former chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission and now dean of FU Graduate School and founding director of IYS Peace, stressed the principles of this event during its launching at Robinsons Place Dumaguete.

Sinco said the event is not only about running but also aims to develop a sense of responsibility.

“Given that this event also cares about rice conservation, it likewise creates awareness among the participants on the reduction of hunger and poverty. With this concept, every participant promises to save rice,” the FU official said.

“Further, with the trails set for this marathon event, it will also build awareness on environmental preservation,” he added.

Events include 42 km (full marathon), 21 km (half marathon), 10.5 km (quarter marathon), 5 km (finisher’s run), and the 3 km (kiddie run).

The 42 km route consists of city streets, off-roads, uphill and downhill trails, with a great view of the Negros Oriental’s natural beauty.
