IRAN Pielago and his Retro Bowlers dominated the 10-round series to capture the championship of the 1st Lane Thunder Bowling Circle (LTBC) Trio Bowlfest at the Negros Super Lanes (NSL) recently.

Pielago steered his team to a twice-to-beat advantage after finishing first with 9,730 pinfalls in the up-the-ladder finals. Supporting his cause were Reymund Lopez, Essho Garcia, Cero Cordova, and Ephraim Fadollone who defeated Kami Mga Huben (KMH) led by Edgar de Leon, 318 against 284 for the title.

Garcia scored 114, Lopez (103) and Pielago (96), while De Leon and Richard Salvo each collected 99 pinfalls. Odong Paran has 98 to cap a low scoring for KMH squad.

KMH earned the right to challenge Retro by deactivating Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers Inc. (ASSFBI) of Edgar del Rosario, 335-296.
De Leon rolled a 129, Paran a 111, and Salvo a 95 against Norman Pineda's 112, Nognog Gatila’s 98, and Ulysses Pacheco’s 86.

Retro took the top prize of P8,000, KMH received P5,000, and ASSFBI cashed in P3,000 along with a trophy each.

In the consolation game, RJ Stars lady boss Rowena Juarez and OMJB top spinner Joe Clemens managed to lead their teams to tie at 318 in bracket A. Both split the cash prize and Juarez gave the trophy to Clemens as souvenir.

NDB Pin Pals, maintained by tournament coordinator and newly-appointed president of LTBC James Toga, salvaged a win in bracket B with 328, the highest triple for the night.

Highest individual scorers were Pielago in pinning (98), Gatila in single (151), and Garcia in triple (402). Best teams were ASSFBI in single (378) and Retro in triple (1,033).

Master Bowler was Cecil Silverio of Silverado.

Cash prizes, trophies, medals, and certificate of appreciations were awarded by Toga who expressed his gratitude to the team managers of bowling associations and clubs for supporting the duckpin bowling festival.

"Expect more and better bowling tournaments from our young clubs in the next coming months," he said.

Meanwhile, an event of three bowling tournaments is set to open today, July 17, dubbed "2014 Scoop-Bacolod Non-Rated Trio Bowlfest" and an individual side event of Isahan Bowling Games at NSL. (HGD)
