AFTER capturing the 2nd Division title of the United Football League (UFL), Ceres-La Salle FC is looking forward to make an impact and perform what is expected as they make a leap to the league’s top division.
With several Azkal key players already in its roster, the Bacolod-based club is reported to have signed up another national team standout and will be bringing in another additional firepower.
After Global FC clinched the Division 1 title, news spread that the 23-year-old Fil-Belgian left-back Jeffrey Christiaens has moved to Ceres’ side.
While there is no official announcement from Ceres yet, word from Global confirmed Christiaens’ transfer thus making him the fifth player from Dan Palami's stable to join Ceres FC.
Christiaens was born in Brussels, Belgium and saw action for the Philippine XI in 2011 as a member of the U23 squad in the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia before suiting up for the Azkals a year later.
Some of the former Global and national mainstays who have joined the fold of manager Leo Rey Yanson this season are Fil-German Patrick Reichelt, Fil-Spanish Carli de Murga, and Angeles siblings – Marwin and Marvin.
Another newcomer for Ceres is Spanish striker Adrián Gallardo whose decision to have some adventure abroad, particularly in the Philippines, came through Ceres' defender de Murga as reported in www.deportedelaisla.com.
Gallardo, based on the report, scored six goals in 19 games for the CD Fernando in the Division of La Liga. He has also played for Union Sporting, Chiclana CF, Oporto, Industrial Jerez, Cadiz B, Athletic Sanluqueño and Cádiz CF.
While waiting to formally sign his contract with Ceres-La Salle FC, Gallardo is already very excited and looking forward in joining the team, a source said.
