Barangay 19, six others stake clean records in Monico Cup-A A +A

DEFENDING champion Barangay 19 (3-0) and six other barangays stake their unblemished records when the 8th Monico Cup 21 Under basketball tournament resumes Saturday at Bays Center in Bacolod City.
The former champions, which demolished Banago, 98-72 last week, face Montevista (2-2) at 3 p.m. Saturday and Mandalagan (2-1) at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in Bracket F.
Banago (3-1) will try to avenge its only loss over Mandalagan at 1:30 p.m. following the reset game between Tangub (3-0) and Mansilingan (2-1) in Bracket D. At 4 p.m., Barangay 24 (4-0) will try to solidify its spot against Barangay 9 (2-2) in Bracket B.
Barangay 23 (4-1) and Barangay 16 (3-1) complete the Saturday schedule as mainer at 6 p.m. each hoping to win to have a better chance in advancing from Bracket D in the Magic 12.
Other Sunday games pit Handumanan against Barangay 18 in Bracket C at 3 p.m. both keen on keeping their identical 3-0 win-loss record clean. Barangay 10 (3-0) will be on its toes at 4:30 p.m. as Villamonte (3-1) will try to come back in order to advance from Bracket E.
At 6 p.m., Singcang and Estefania (both at 3-1) will be the match to watch as winning is a must for each in Bracket C. Barangay 22 (4-0) is favored over Tangub at 7:30 p.m. but village chief Noli Villarosa's squad might spring a surprise in Bracket D.
Only two teams will advance from each bracket.
