Iloilo batters retain title; take Aspac slot-A A +A

ILOILO Little League clouters demolished their rivals on Sunday to retain their respective titles in the Philippine Series finals played at the Marikina City diamonds.
The little leaguers dominated Muntinlupa in a one-sided fourth inning regulation, 19-0 after it blanked International Little League of Manila in the semi- final 12-0.
The champion, the Palanguia Elementary School of Pototan's District II mentored by Jerryldin Gerochi, will again represent the country in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Regional this July in Subic.
The team is spearheaded by co-mentor Divina Aguilon, District Sports Coordinator Jay Poras, Principal Jose Quindipan and Pototan Mayor Tomas Peñaflorida. With Geroche in the coaching staff are Danilo Estanda and Vivian Deala.
The junior leaguers from Zarraga National High School likewise demolished Makati, 11-1 also in regulation fourth inning. Bulacan was never in the semifinal game as Iloilo prevailed 14-4.
Bankrolling the Iloilo town team are Zarraga NHS Principal Lina Dordas, Mayor John Tarrosa, also the ILL charter president; DepEd-Iloilo Superintendent Myrna Castillo, and DepEd Supervisor Gilbert Solidum.
Hundreds of teams from all over the country are expected to compete for an opportunity to represent the Philippines to the Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament in Clark, Pampanga, and the World Series in the United States.
Among other events to be contested are baseball and softball for little league (11-12), junior league (14-under), senior league (16-U), and big league (18-U) divisions. (HGD)
