PBA Youngstars tourney opens today

THIRTEEN teams from various schools and clubs in Bacolod City will see action when the 2014 Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars Tournament kicks off at 10 a.m. today at the West Negros University gym.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Executive Director Sonny Barrios will lead the opening ceremony together with SBP Regional head Robert Uy, WNU lawyer Monico Jacob, and Vice President for Administration Mark Molina.

Teams in Bracket A are West Negros University, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, University of St. La Salle-B, Mansilingan Christian Academy, Big Shots, St. Benilde School, and Tangub Christian Academy;
Bracket B includes Bacolod Tay Tung High School, USLS-A, St. John’s Institute, NOHJ’s, Stallions and Trinity Christian School.


Each team has 12 players with three each born on 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001.

Whoever becomes champion for the Bacolod Leg will join the champions from Cebu and Iloilo for the Visayas Regionals in Iloilo City from May 12 to 15.

The regional champion will then advance to the National Finals to compete against the titlists from Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, Mindanao and Metro Manila.

The Northern Luzon leg is comprised of Pangasinan, Pampanga and Baguio while the Southern Luzon includes Laguna, Cavite and Batangas.

The Mindanao side consists of Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga. ( HGD)
