WORLD Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has deleted the doubts of those who questioned his capability of winning a title again.

The Sarangani lawmaker regained his belt on Sunday with a unanimous decision victory over erstwhile titlist American Timothy “Dessert Storm” Bradley in Pacquiao-Bradley 2: Vindication at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella said Bradley has no match against Pacquiao.

“Pacquiao fought like a true champion while Bradley just displayed showmanship,” the local chief executive said. “Bradley wanted to do a Floyd Mayweather style but he’s too far from it.”

Bacolod City-based JR Promotions and Top Prime Stable manager Rev. Henry Guanzon said Pacquiao is not getting younger yet he is still capable of beating Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather.

“He fights more clever now and only needs to restore his stamina,” he added.

Former WBO minimumweight champion Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo also applauded Pacquiao for reclaiming his throne.

“He’s my idol and I congratulate him for winning back the title,” the Bacolod fighter said.

Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. said the champion exuded what hope, perseverance and determination can do, for one coming from a poor family, to succeed.

“This poor boxer is now the darling of the world with his kindness and humility – even to his opponents. He’s a true patriot by fighting for the nation and for the Filipino people,” Gamboa added. (HGD)
