13 teams qualify in Jr. PBA Young Stars

THIRTEEN teams will see action when the 2014 Coca-Cola PBA Young Stars Tournament kicks off on April 22 starting 8 a.m. at the West Negros University (WNU) gym, tournament commissioner Jake Azucena said.

Teams playing until May 8 are Bracket A’s West Negros University, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, University of St. La Salle (USLS)-B, Mansilingan Christian Academy, Big Shots, St. Benilde School, and Tangub Christian Academy.

In Bracket B are Bacolod Tay Tung High School, USLS-A, St. John’s Institute, NOHJ’s, Stallions and Trinity Christian School.


Teams must consist of 12 players with three each born in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001.

The Bacolod Leg champion alongside the champions from Cebu and Iloilo will then advance to the Visayas Regionals in Iloilo City from May 12 to 15.

The regional champion will go to the National Finals where it will compete with the titlists from Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, Mindanao and Metro Manila.

Joining Azucena is co-tournament commissioner Bobby Tee while supervising the Bacolod leg is the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas provincial chairman Anthony Carlo Agustin. (HGD)
