HOST Barangay Bata showed its true worth by beating Petron Thunderbirds, 106-95 while Barangay 35 made the road rough for Faith Taxi, 99-91 on Sunday at the Barangay Bata Council Open Invitational basketball tournament in Bacolod City.

The trio of Santos, Dairo and Torrico combined for 77 of Bata's total output while Thunderbirds’ Abaring, Apuang and Alunan scored only a sum of 52 markers.

Maui Huelar's Barangay 35 continued to improve as hotshots Bulahan, Cawaling and Sanches burned the hoops with 54 points negating the 67-point made by John Carl Oquindo and "Toto" Moreno for Faith Taxi.

As Bata league commissioner Leo Bat-og foresees, the tournament is going full speed and the teams are improving as the games continue.

Games on Sunday, April 6, pit Barangay 35 and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos against each other at 4 p.m. and Faith Taxi versus Bata at 5:30 p.m. (HGD)
