NOW it is final.

Thirty-six teams. Five hundred players. A quarter of a million peso budget.

That's the rough estimate when participating barangays in Bacolod City vie for top honors of the 8th Monico Cup 21-Under which will open April 6 at the Bacolod Arts and Youth Sports (Bays) Center.

Tournament manager Rolando "Jack" Marañon said the confirmed teams will be bracketed in six groups and will play a single round robin format elimination.

Bracket A is composed of Barangays 1, 6, 12, 18, 40, and Handumanan; Bracket B, Barangays 9, 16, 23, 24, 26 and 30; Bracket C, Barangays 7, 29, 35, Granada, Estefania, and Singcang; Bracket D, Barangay 13, 14, 22, Bata, Mansilingan/Paglaum and Tangub; Bracket E, Barangays 2, 10, 20, 39, Cabug, and Villamonte; and Bracket F, 8, 19, 41, Mandalagan, Montevista, and Banago.

Games will be played Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only and will run until June.

The top two teams from each bracket will advance to the 12-team knockout phase after the eliminations. The remaining six survivors will then proceed to the knockout quarterfinals.

The three winning teams automatically secure semis berth while the losing teams will contest the remaining spot for the crossover semifinals.

Winners in the crossover semis will arrange a championship match while losers will settle for runner-up positions.
