IT WAS not only his World Boxing Organization Inter-Continental super bantamweight belt and purse that he pocketed in the Pinoy Pride XXIV: The Future Is Now. Bacolod's pride Genesis “Azukal” Servania and his family won more.

After more than three decades of presuming an uncle dead, his father Antonio finally found his long-lost brother at the boxing arena where Servania fought.

When the 22-year-old Servania knocked out former two-time WBA super flyweight world champion Alexander “El Explosivo” Muñoz of Venezuela last March 1 at the Solaire Resort and Casino, he did not only retain his title. His father triumphed too.

In an interview over dyEZ’s Sunday sports program Aksyon Isports, Genesis revealed that because of his fight at Solaire, his father finally found his brother whom they believed had died 33 years ago.

“My father has long been searching for my uncle, who is a chef in a ship. My father believed that his brother died when the ship sank. The brothers seeing each other after being apart for many years made the entire family very emotional,” the champion from Barangay Punta Taytay said.

“My uncle told me that when he first saw me fight in Manila, he simply cheered on me because we have similar surname – not knowing that I’m his nephew,” Servania revealed.
