Crossfit dumps Foxshox, Asahi falls against BNB-A A +A

CROSSFIT Creamy Yogurt eliminated Foxshox/Decada X Vitamilk from the Class A semifinals contention with a 75-61 victory in the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Inc. Invitational Cup at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
Meanwhile, Asahi Super Dry missed a chance to get an outright quarterfinals slot as they fall against Class B top seed Beer na Beer 80-77.
Beer na Beer erected a 41-24 first half lead as Tubby Villanueva scored 13 points with support from teammates Brian Tan and Richard Uy six points apiece. Kieron Tan hit 10 points to lead Asahi.
Aaron Arroyo and Noriel Bernales picking up 14 points and seven points, respectively, spearheaded the Asahi rally as they grabbed a four point lead before Beer na Beer settled down and back to the driver’s seat at the end of the third quarter 55-53.
Asahi had to play catch up in the fourth quarter as BNB kept the Asahi at bay with timely hits by Brian Tan and Glin Ortaliz.
With BNB up two, Ortaliz missed two free throws for BNB, but they got the offensive rebound and teammate Berto Uysang made one of two free throws with seven seconds left. Asahi committed a turnover on their last play dooming their chance for an equalizer.
Ortaliz paced BNB with 16 points, Villanueva added 15 points, Richard Uy and Brian Tan picked up 14 points each, and Freddie Ong made 12 points.
Arroyo propelled Asahi with 22 points Kieron Tan contributed 15 points Bermudez shot 13 points, and Ton Ton Chua with 12 points.
Crossfit improved to 3-4 for a tie for third spot with Synchrotek-Summit.
Jeremy Coo scored eight points as he led Crossfit balance offensive to take the half 38-30 even as Mark Belangel also scored eight points for Foxshox/Decada X.
Sammy Belangel and Christian Yu combined for 11 points to lead a Foxshox/Decada X rally in the third quarter and cut the deficit 52-46 while Crossfit Reserve Keith Banzon continue with his hot shooting knocked down three treys to slow down the Vitamilk comeback.
Vitamilk could not keep up with a balance Crossfit offense in the payoff quarter led by Charles Del Castillo seven points to bow out of contention.
Crossfit was spearheaded by Banzon 12 points backstopped by Del Castillo and Brian Coo 11 points apiece, Pol Morales shot seven points and Leandro Francisco hit six points.
Mark Belangel had a game-high 18 points in a losing effort, Sammy Belangel churned in 15 points, Christian Yu made 11 points and Calib Gicole with eight points. (With reports from Stephen Tan)
