SIXTEEN-TIME Palarong Pambansa softball champion coach Antonio “Tony” Oquindo Jr. got serious offers to coach again.

Ironically, the job offer came from Pasig and Iloilo cities during the 2013 Batang Pinoy National Finals held in Bacolod.

The veteran mentor is still thinking whether to accept the offer.

"Nothing can match the feeling of winning a title for your own hometown,” Oquindo said.

"Bombo" Tony was also offered same job in Guam after the 2011 Asia-Pacific Regional Softball Tournament, but for the same reason he turned down the offer.

The retired teacher from Domingo Lacson National High School has steered several Philippine Teams to the World Series Softball Championships in the United States, with the former "North" high school representing during his stint.

Presently, Oquindo is busy conducting softball clinics in the province and the rest of the Visayas region to further promote the sports he loves most.

This Sunday, a “battle of softball champions” featuring the top teams in Western Visayas region will be played in Silay City. (HGD)
