13-U rapid chess tourney today

YOUNG woodpushers in Negros Occidental will go back to the boards today when the National Chess Academy opens its 13 and Under Rapid Chess Tournament at Nena’s Chicken Inasal at Lacson Street in Bacolod City.

The champion will receive a cash prize of P2,000 plus trophy and a medal while the runner-up will take home P1,500 plus trophy and a medal. The third placer will get P1,000 plus trophy and a medal; fourth placer, P700 and a medal; 5th placer, P500 and a medal; sixth to tenth placer, P200 and medals each.

As additional incentive, the school with most number of entries will get P300 and a medal while the Top Female Scorer and Youngest Participant will receive P200 each and medals.


Registration fee is pegged at P150. Players must bring their own chess sets and chess clocks, if available. (HGD)
