NegOcc arnis team shine in WVRAA meet-A A +A

RAMON Torres National High School in Bago City, representing Negros Occidental, has left a remarkable note in the just-concluded 2014 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in Antique.
The Negrense arnisadors finished first runner-up overall in the secondary boys and second runner-up in the secondary girls categories.
The team hauled seven gold medals, four silvers and 15 bronzes – both in “anyo” and “labanan” categories.
Head coach Brian Martir said his team was just 10 points short behind Aklan which will advance to the Palarong Pambansa.
“This is the best performance ever by the Negros arnis in the secondary boys and we're almost there (champion),” he added.
The Bago City athletes captured the gold medals in the Anyo Team Solo Baston, Anyo Team Doble Baston, and bronze medals in the individual Solo and Doble Baston and added a gold, two silvers and two bronze medals in the Labanan.
The jubilant arnis artists are Jomar Paul Pangcobila, two golds and a bronze in Anyo, and a gold in Labanan; Jhunnie Rhey Pangcobila, bronze-Labanan; John Israel Ermeo, silver-Labanan; Jason Galas, two golds - Anyo and a bronze-Labanan; and Christian Reyes, two gold medals -Anyo, and a silver-Labanan.
Trainer is Wilson Alvarado.
The secondary girls of Roel Pineda also registered its best finish with Kyle Presente, three bronzes-Anyo, and bronze-Labanan; Liezl Matulac, two bronzes-Anyo, and silver-Labanan; Alhea Katryn Balboa, bronze both in Anyo and Labanan; Angelica Mae Sta. Ana, two bronzes-Anyo, and a bronze-Labanan; and Angel Joy Libres, silver-Labanan.
