THE 3rd National Chess Federation of the Philippines-Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (Scoop)-Bacolod Inc. joint venture opens today and runs Sunday at the ABAP gym in connection with Bago City’s 48th Charter Anniversary and Babaylan festival.

Open to all chess players in the province aged Under 14, the event seeks to promote camaraderie among chess players and help unite chess clubs by breaking barriers that hindered the development of the sports for many years in the province.

NCFP and Scoop-Bacolod Inc. came up with this annual project to benefit the chess community in Negros Occidental.

The champion will receive P1,500, a trophy and certificate; first runner-up, P1,000 plus trophy and certificate; second runner-up, P800 plus trophy and certificate; fourth-10th placers, P150 each plus medal and certificate; and P 250 plus certificate for the top female finisher. (HGD)
