Ceres FC hooks Dolphins to improve UFL record

CERES-La Salle FC bounced back from a 0-1 loss to Laos FC by winning, 9-2 over Dolphins United over the weekend in the 2nd Division of the United Football League at Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

The Dolphins started aggressively in the opening minutes as Jerome Cuyos connected in the10th minute off a pass from Romnick Echin.

Ceres’ Younousse Yaogo tried an equalizer in the 15th minute but failed on a save by Bernard Lelis. Echin unfortunately sent an own goal in the 18th minute for a 1-all score and the Bacolod-based squad earned the momentum.


Hanesin Prince Antony hit the net in the 22nd minute for a 2-1 lead as Ceres continued to launch aggressive attack on Dolphins’ defense. J Baguiro successfully scored its third goal in the 24th minute.

Cuyos again found the back of the net in the 31st minute for his second goal to cut the deficit to a goal.

Jin Ho Kim, who substituted for Yaogo in the 34th minute, escaped his defender and almost had Ceres’ fourth goal in the 38th minute. The ball went straight to Dolphins’ keeper Lelis but four minutes later, Antony scored his second and gave Ceres a, 4-2 advantage.

Anthony and Kim rolled two more tries before the halftime whistle but Lelis deflected.

Korean Yong Chan Son entered for William Espinosa and fired one for Ceres but caught by Lelis. Lelis was caught offguard later and Kim hit in the 56th minute to extend the lead, 5-2. Kim had another chance to score but his shot went wide.

Sending fresh legs on the pitch, Angelo Marasigan substituted Baguiro, Korean keeper Jae Hun Hyoun replaced veteran custodian Michael Casas and Tristan Kit Robles went in for Antony.

Kim continued to challenge Lelis with a strong strike in the 68th minute but blocked. He succeeded in the 69th minute.

Robles nailed the team’s seventh goal in the 76th minute while Samson Olaniyi added another in the 79th minute. Kim sealed the win in the 89th minute.
