ABANG Lingkod party-list Representative Stephen Paduano slammed his fellow lawmakers from the leftist Makabayan bloc for staging a walkout when President Benigno Aquino III was about to deliver his State of the Nation Address (Sona) Monday.

"It was a disrespect to an institution they are serving," Paduano said.

Paduano was known as Carapali Luahalti when he was the national commander of the communist breakaway group Revolutionary Proletarian Amy-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB).

He said that since the House of Representatives, where the Makabayan bloc lawmakers are serving, and the Senate had invited the President to deliver his Sona, they should have given him a little respect.

Those who walked out were Representatives Neri Colmenares and Carlos Zarate of Bayan Muna, Luz Ilagan and Emmi de Jesus of Gabriela, Antonio Tinio of ACT Teachers, Fernando Hicap of Anakpawis, and Terry Ridon of Kabataan.

They earlier filed impeachment complaints against Aquino.

The group members said they decided to walk out because they know that the President "would just utter lies to further defend the unconstitutional Disbursement Acceleration Program."

Colmenares said the President's speech did not present the real state of the nation.

But Paduano said the seven party-list legislators do not deserve to be called members of the Congress.

"If they don't want to hear the Sona, then they should have not shown up. What they did was not only a disrespect to the President, but also to the institution they are serving," he added.
