THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is intensifying its intelligence monitoring in different barangays to neutralize the continued illegal drug operations in the city.

The move came after a man believed to be under the influence of illegal drugs beheaded his own mother in Purok Villa Esperanza, Barangay Tangub last week.

Senior Superintendent Pedrito Escarilla, officer-in-charge of BCPO, said Monday that a parricide case was filed by the police Friday against Percival Gabitanan, 34, who killed his mother Elidena, 70, using a bolo.

After the incident, Mayor Monico Puentevella ordered the BCPO chief to double their efforts against illegal drugs.

Since last week, several drug pushers were arrested, Escarilla said.

He assured the public that they will double their efforts to neutralize not only the drug pushers but also the drug users in different barangays.

Escarilla said that most of the suspects involved in crime incidents were under the influence of illegal drugs.

He said they are also conducting an information campaign in different barangays to educate the residents on the bad effects of illegal drugs.
