A POLICEMAN was arrested for illegal possession of drugs and firearms inside a videoke bar and a beer house at Bangga Dan, Victorias City on Tuesday morning.

Police identified the suspect as Police Officer 1 Reyland Dordas, 24, detailed at Capiz Provincial Police Office (CPPO), and a resident of Barangay Ma-uyon, Manapla, Negros Occidental.

Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, chief of Victorias police, said Dordas was arrested during the conduct of Oplan Bakal at 1:30 a.m.

Dordas, who was one of the customers, was found possessing a plastic sachet of suspected shabu and a homemade .38 caliber with six live ammunition.

Charges for violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act was filed against the policeman Tuesday.

Rapiz said they are still validating if the firearms of Dordas are licensed.

In Bacolod City, Senior Inspector Lanel Mae Ree Lanado, chief of Police Station 1, was relieved from his post effective yesterday.

Senior Supeintendent Pedrito Escarilla, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Lanado was replaced by Senior Inspector Joeffer Cabural, former head of Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC).

Lanado was reassigned to the BCPO Administration office.

Escarilla said Lanado is facing issues in the performance of his duties, and he was relieved so that he could not influence the ongoing investigation against him.

Escarilla said Cabural should address the problem on Badjaos that are regularly staying at the plaza.

Police Station 4 commander, Senior Inspector Argel Ancheta, is also set to leave his post and he is still waiting for an order.

The BCPO chief disclosed that there will be a second reshuffling of station commanders as part of the readjustment in the headquarters since some officials will undergo a five-month schooling for their promotion. (MAP)
