‘Show some delicadeza,’ lawmaker tells Puentevellas-A A +A

BACOLOD City Lone District Representative Evelio Leonardia told Mayor Monico Puentevella and his son Councilor Claudio “Kalaw” Puentevella to show delicadeza after the latter was appointed chair of the committee on finance in the City Council.
This is the first time in the history of Bacolod, the former mayor said.
"I was surprised that they will do the father-and-son tandem. We are talking here about the budget and the money of the people of Bacolod and it will be handled by the father and son. They forgot about delicadeza,” Leonardia said.
He added: "I just want to let the people of Bacolod know its implication. It is very surprising.”
Reacting to Leonardia’s statement, Councilor Puentevella said, "The congressman should doubly concentrate on his own work."
"We have not heard a single bill from him that is about to be passed," the mayor’s son said, adding that the former mayor "should not meddle with the Council."
"Please mind your own business,” the councilor told Leonardia. "Your insulting other members of the SP who can do a much better job than you in Congress.”
Meanwhile, Councilor Roberto Rojas, Puentevella’s predecessor as finance committee chair, said the mayor’s son is trying to divert the issue of how he and his father are teaming up to take control of the financial affairs of the city.
Rojas had earlier said that although Puentevella’s appointment is not illegal, it is still dangerous.
“This further means that we have effectively given up the built-in ‘checks and balances’ in our system and left financial matters for a father and his son to discuss,” Rojas added.
