NegOcc avails of P27-M housing projects-A A +A

THE province of Negros Occidental availed Wednesday of the various housing projects amounting to more than P27 million.
During the distribution of checks at the Talisay City Hall, Vice President Jejomar Binay, head of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), led the distribution of checks amounting to P27,318,806 worth of housing projects in the province, including those for five localities worst-hit by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
Of the total amount, P19,985,902 was given to E.B. Magalona with P2,499,375, Manapla with P4,999,120, Silay City with P2,499,627, Talisay City with P2,496,900, and Victorias City with P7,490,880. The checks were given through the Home Materials Assistance Program of the National Housing Authority (NHA).
Binay also turned over a check amounting to P7 million to the Hinigaran Government Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative under the Pag-Ibig refund Group Land Acquisition and Development Program. The amount represents the second tranche of the group’s loan of P16.082 million.
He also turned over checks amounting to P332,904 to six Community Mortgage Program (CMP) mobilizers who assisted and trained CMP communities in various aspects to be able to avail of projects.
Binay said he is thankful to the various sectors for their participation in the CMP, including the landowners who agreed to sell their lands to the community at a low cost.
HUDCC Undersecretary Celia Alba said that aside from the assistance given to Yolanda victims, seven coastal cities and municipalities in the province identified as danger zones will also be given relocation assistance.
