Ayalin arrested in Zambales-A A +A

FORMER village chief Noel Ayalin, the number one most wanted person in Western Visayas, was arrested Thursday at Iba, Zambales by operatives of Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office.
Senior Superintendent Milko Lirazan, acting director of Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo), said they received information that Ayalin was arrested in the presence of village chief Ramon Celebre, Ayalin’s successor at Barangay Kapitan Ramon, Silay City.
Celebre was among those injured when Ayalin fire upon the village officials who were having a session on March 6, 2011.
His four colleagues were killed, including council members Luzviminda Cotamen, Pedrito Orocio, Freddie Juño, and SK chair Imee Occeña.
Ayalin has an arrest warrant for multiple murder and attempted murder cases.
Lirazan said the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas (PRO-6) will coordinate with the Nueva Ecija police for the custody of Ayalin, who has a bounty of P800,000. Read the related story here.
“The arrest of Ayalin is a big development in solving the massacre case in Kapitan Ramon and a big help for the family of the victims,” he said.
The Nueva Ecija police arrested Ayalin while he was selling coconut juice at past 3 p.m. Thursday.
Celebre said Ayalin tried to escape but when he saw them, he cooperated with the police.
Celebre and Occeña will be brought from Zambales to Manila.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II assured the family of the victims that they will help them bring Ayalin to justice.
“By the grace of God and the cooperation of the government officials, the murderer was arrested. There will be no special treatment.” (with reports from CNC)
