E.B. MAGALONA Mayor David Albert Lacson, president of the League of Municipalities-Negros Occidental, on Thursday said they will pass a resolution supporting the creation of One-Island Region for Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

Lacson said the LMP-Negros may meet next week to approve the resolution.

He said the center of the regional offices should be in Bacolod City to give easy access to E.B. Magalona and other towns and cities in northern Negros.

Lacson said that if the regional center would be located in Kabankalan or Mabinay, residents will spend longer travel time or even stay overnight to do business at the regional offices.

The mayor is also amenable of including the provinces of Guimaras and Siquijor in the One-Island Region.

Negros Occidental is part of Western Visayas or Region 6 with regional offices in Iloilo City, while Negros Oriental is under Central Visayas or Region 7 whose regional offices are in Cebu. (TDE)
