RODELIO Sapian has been appointed by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) as the officer-in-charge alien control officer of Bacolod City.
Sapian, who was BI supervisor at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport prior to his assignment in the city, succeeded Casimiro Magarang III who was reassigned back to BI office in Cebu.
Sapian is due to report to BI Bacolod Office after the Holy Week.
Under Casimiro, the BI Bacolod Office has been active in its campaign against overstaying foreigners in the country through its mapping operation.
More than 20 foreigners were brought to the office of BI-Bacolod for verification for their legal documents, including their passports and visas.
Meanwhile, the BI is closely coordinating with the Korean Embassy relative to the case of a Korean national who was charged for the death of his alleged Filipino girlfriend whose dead body was found inside the room of an inn in Bacolod City last week.
Han Taeh Young, 35, temporarily residing in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City was charged for murder after the autopsy report indicated the woman died of a head injury.
The BI-Bacolod Office is also keeping in touch with the Spanish Embassy after Spanish national Santiago Rivero Monzon,70, was killed in Bago City also last week. (TDE/Sun.Star Bacolod)
