Marañon hopes Bacolod will get Apec hosting-A A +A

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said he is hoping that Bacolod City would be chosen as one of the venues for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit that will be held in the Philippines in 2015.
"That would also be an advantage for the province," Marañon said.
However, the governor revealed that despite that Ayala Land Inc. may hold the groundbreaking for the construction of a hotel as part their development plan for the Capitol property, the completion of the project may not beat the hosting of the 2015 Apec Summit.
Marañon divulged that during the visit of the evaluators in Bacolod City, he heard them say that "they are not impressed here because we still lack something for the holding of such big world conference.”
"But we will just wait for their decision. It would be an advantage if they choose Bacolod," the governor said.
In a press conference held at The Ruins in Talisay City with Mayor Monico Puentevella, the evaluators led by Revimarc de Mesa, Apec 2015 deputy director general for operations, said that Bacolod has a lot to offer particularly its cuisine, industries, craft and its culture.
However, Marañon said that the organizers would not want to be vulgar about their observations when they were here.
The organizers said that one of the strengths of Bacolod is the organization and readiness of the public and private sector to really see a hosting of any meeting.
