A MAN was injured when he was hit by a bullet at K-5 Distributor Office in Hernaez Extension Barangay Taculing in Bacolod Monday morning.
Police identified the victim as Anthony Tañada, 32, a salesman and resident of Purok Himaya Barangay Mansilingan.
Inspector Placido Gentoleo, chief of Police Station 6, said that around 7:30 a.m., security guard Romeo Villarias Jr., 32, of Security Investigation Service Inc., was unloading his firearm to turn over it to the incoming security guard who will replace on his post.
Gantoleo said that while Villarias was unloading his gun, he clicked the trigger and he didn't expect there was still a bullet inside.
Tanada was hit on the left side of his body and the bullet exited at the right side of his stomach.
The victim was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center while Villarias also surrendered to Police Station 6 bringing along his issued firearm.
He added that it was not his intention to shot the victim and it was only an accidental firing.
Gentoleo said the family of the victim is also willing to file charges against the suspect, who is detained at the lockup cell of Police Station 6.
