A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl died of drowning in a dipping pool of the Provincial Government-owned Mambukal Resort in Murcia town Sunday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Ziara Pueblo of Silay City.

Pueblo was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, but she did not reach the facility alive.

Initial police investigation showed the victim was left unattended by her grandmother in the four-foot deep pool.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the province will provide assistance to the victim's family.

"We sympathize with them," the governor said, but he said that "accidents can happen, we can't avoid that. That's a lesson learned."

Marañon said signages are placed around the resort especially at the pools reminding parents not to leave their children unattended.
