THE Batang Pinoy National Finals and Bacolaodiat Festival were generally peaceful, with no major incidents reported, Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordainel, acting Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, said Monday.
The two big events in Bacolod City started January 28 and ended February 2.
Ordaniel said that aside from reports of theft incident in one of the billeting areas in Barangay Mansilingan, no other major incidents were recorded in different police stations.
He said the theft incident at Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School, where an athlete’s mother lost her bag inside the billeting area, was an isolated case.
Ordaniel said about 150 policemen from the Regional Public Safety Battalion were deployed to different areas of Bacolod City to ensure the safety of players, coaches, and Bacolaodiat revelers.
He said policemen were deployed not only in the area of Lacson Street but also in different intersections to preempt the possible operation of “basag-kotse” suspects.
Ordaniel noted that during the Bacolaodiat Festival, about eight alarm and scandals incidents were recorded in Police Station 2, with no major incidents.
He added that several traffic enforcers and traffic policemen were assigned in the festival area to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. (MAP)
