150 cops beef up security in Bacolod

ABOUT 150 additional personnel from Regional Public Public Safety Batallion will be deployed starting today to different areas in Bacolod City to help maintain peace and order during the Batang Pinoy National Finals and the Bacoloadiat Festival.

Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, acting city police director, said the deployment of the augmentation force was a result of his request from Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, director of Police Regional Office 6.

The Batang Pinoy games will run until February first.


Ordaniel said the policemen will be assigned to the billeting areas of athletes and coaches.

Players and coaches from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are housed in 11 billeting areas in Bacolod City.

Andres Bonifacio Elementary School I houses the Western Visayas delegation; Andres Bonifacio Elementary School II, Eastern Visayas; C.L. Montelibano Elementary School and D. A. Montelibano Elementary School, Central Visayas; A. L. Jayme Elementary School and Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School, Mindanao; Rizal Elementary School, Education and Training Center School I, II and III, Luzon.

Ordaniel said the additional policemen will also help secure the Bacolaodiat Festival to welcome the Chinese New Year from January 30 to February 2.

The festival will open with a grand parade Thursday afternoon along Lacson Street. (MAP)
