BACOLOD City Mayor Monico Puentevella suspended the excavation and digging activities at an area behind the main office of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) on Mabini-Gonzaga Streets.

Puentevella, who visited the area Saturday, said the more than 12 feet of indiscriminate diggings, which explore possible war-time treasure, pose danger and may affect operations of Ceneco.

“The fact that Ceneco, a vital utility company, is adjacent to the property and have sub-station beside it, the digging must be stopped,” Puentevella said.

Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. had also filed a complaint before Barangay 26 head Antonio Arroz.

Pastor Alladin Zanoni, who is facilitating the application for permit from the National Museum, said they have applied for a permit to do the exploration for one year.

The organization believes that there are hidden treasures in the said property based on the special gadget they used that detecedt it.

They started digging the area last November and two weeks ago, there was a back hoe commissioned to hasten the digging activities.

The area now has loose soil and there is a possibility that somebody might get caved in inside the hole that has a depth of more or less 12 feet from the ground to the water table and another 12 feet more beneath it, Sun added.

The property owners, meanwhile, committed to comply with the order of the mayor. (CNC)
