ZUMBA, which is the popular exercise of the moment, can be more than just a regular regimen for health buffs. Coming together for a cause, Zumba instructors from different schools became one and fused for saving a life.

That precious life is for Liam Reyes, an eight-month old baby of King and Princess Reyes, who desperately needs a liver transplant - as in, immediately.

Baby Liam was born on Christmas Day in 2013 and they christened him Liam Emmanuel. At eight weeks old, he was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called "biliary artresia."

This disease causes the bile ducts to develop abnormally and blocks the flow of bile from the liver to the intestines leading to liver damage, cirrhosis and eventual death.

At 9 months, Baby Liam underwent surgery - the Kasai procedure-connecting his small intestines to his liver. Unfortunately, the procedure was not enough as observed 3 weeks after the surgery. Liam was showing signs of liver damage. What is imperative is a liver transplant.
The family has been in communication with Taiwan which has the highest success story with this procedure.

We are always told to start with what we have and friends of King and Princess who are involved in Zumba and other dance/exercise therapies have bonded together for a fund-raising event for Liam. They came together, sought sponsors, sold tickets and zumbaed the afternoon away with many who wanted to sweat it out at the same time save a life. The attendees were varied at the Ikthus covered court.

The young and the not-so-young fused together. Members of different dance schools came to show support. Companies like LBC, Merci and L’Fisher hotel gave their share in donations to raise money.

However, this will be a costly procedure amounting to about 5 million which the family cannot raise. The timetable for the liver transplant is November of this year.

Life is precious and Baby Liam needs our help. There is still time to give generously to this baby who needs us. You can contact Princess in her cellular phone number at 09228225740.

We are never too poor to give because we can pray for a miracle for Liam or extend whatever we can in time and treasure to help him.

For those who have already helped, Liam’s family and friends thank you. Let our goodness and kindness extend to Liam. We are blessing him with our love and support. The Lord always takes care of those who are good and kind!
