IN CELEBRATION of the National Breastfeeding Awareness Month this August, the Bacolod Mom and Baby Club (BMBC) and the Institute for Negros Development (IND) will hold a half-day breastfeeding activity called Hakab Na Bacolod 2014 at the Santuario de la Salle today, August 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

This event seeks to promote the importance of providing proper support to all breastfeeding Filipino mothers and families.

Hakab Na Bacolod 2014 will be held in coordination with the Big Latch On—an annual breastfeeding event where mothers gather at registered locations around the world and latch on simultaneously at 10:30 a.m.

There were 14,536 mothers at 845 locations in 28 countries that participated last year. Bacolod, Manila, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Iloilo will be part of a worldwide campaign to beat last year’s numbers.

At Hakab Na Bacolod 2014, mothers will get to meet and greet fellow breastfeeding moms, learn about breastfeeding myths, and enjoy fun activities for the whole family.

Breastfeeding portraits will also be taken during the event as part of a breastfeeding exhibit to be launched at the end of Breastfeeding Month.

This event is also in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bacolod South and CM Photography.

Registration is free. Interested parties can register by sending their name, child's name and age, mobile number and email address to (0922) 484-6708. Updates will be posted on BMBC’s Facebook page bacolodmomandbabyclub. (PR)
