MY GOOD friend and a well-respected member of the society, Gregorio Barcelona Yusay, recently celebrated his 79th birthday at the posh Bacolod Planta Hotel. The function hall was decorated with a Moroccan motif executed by Janet Loyola of Pedalcore.

Regal ladies and gentlemen, mostly coming from the high society of Bacolod, attended the lavish party to personally greet the celebrator.

Aside from the family members of Mr. Yusay in attendance, his fellow members from his religious and civic clubs like the Casa Maria, Bacolod Cultural Foundation, Bacolod Garden Club and Bacolod French Club also graced the occasion.

Tito Goring or Tito Greg, as I fondly call him, is a devoted Catholic— very refined, philanthropic and very sweet as a friend.

We met each other years ago and since then we became good friends. He was a schoolmate of my dad when they were in high school at the exclusive St. Clément’s Reformatory School in Iloilo. The first cousin of my Dad, Tita Inday Diutay Limsiaco got married to his brother, Tito Manuel Yusay.

Tito Greg comes from an affluent family and a hacendero. He has traveled around the world and his favorite places are Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and Barcelona, Spain. He’s an avid collector of antiques and that is one of his hobbies.

He is a prayerful man and has strong affiliation with the Casa Maria. He loves arts and culture being an active member of the Bacolod Cultural Foundation and the Bacolod Garden Club. He is fluent in several languages—one of those is French and he is associated with the Bacolod French Club.

We enjoyed the sumptuous foods in the party. Tito Goring was so cute while blowing the candle. It was capped by ballroom dancing and everyone enjoyed as Tito Goring is a gracious host.

Tomorrow night, Saturday, let’s get wild and wet at the Summer Smash party at SM City Bacolod at the southwing’s vacant lot starting at 5 p.m.

Inspired by the Holi Festival, partygoers will be engulfed with in smoke and puffs of color from imported powders. The Summer Smash is brought to you by SM City and Dugout Sports Bar.

Tickets are available at SM’s northwing lobby.
