An evening of beauty and glamour

THE grand coronation night of Lin-ay sang Negros 2014 at the Panaad Stadium last April 4 was, for me, the grandest and the most fabulous in the 20-year history of the pageant.

Chaired by my friend, Ian de Ramos, the Lin-ay sang Negros celebrated its 20th this year, so the pageant's theme was the color emerald.

The Lin-ay sang Negros 2014 is Lin-ay sang Bacolod Alexis Danica Drilon, first runner-up is Lin-ay sang Isabela Nesha Faith Dianala, and second runner-up is Lin-ay sang Cadiz Shermen Rose Perez.

Most of the candidates were stunning when they paraded in the competitions for flora and fauna costume, swimsuit and evening gown.

Alexis Danica was chosen Best in Evening Gown, Shermen Rose was Best in Swimsuit, while Lin-ay sang Murcia Annalita Vizcarra was Best in Flora and Fauna Costume.

My favorite among the 22 candidates, of course, is Alexis Danica, who is also a model of MWAH (Mark's Women and Hunks), my own modeling agency.

I watched the Lin-ay pageant in Panaad Stadium and the moment I first saw Alexis Danica sashaying in a butterfly costume, I already predicted her victory.

She has porcelain, flawless skin, and classy beauty. As the newly crowned Lin-ay sang Negros 2014, she won P60,000 in cash, a 100-percent scholarship, and other perks and privileges from corporate sponsors of the pageant.

Nikki, as I fondly call her, won seven corporate awards: Ms. Globe, Miss Olive-C, Miss YSA Skin, Miss Nature Spring, Miss Nataasan Beach Resort, Miss Petron and Lin-ay sang Organic na Negros-North.

Giving Nikki a good fight was Nesha Faith, with five corporate awards: Miss Glutamax, Miss Coca-Cola, Miss (GMA) Kapuso, Lin-ay sang RKJ Manpower and Lin-ay sang Negros Organic-South.

Nesha Faith, as first runner-up, won P40,000 in cash and a 75-percent scholarship. For my fearless forecast, I predict that if Nesha Faith would follow my advice for her to join MassKaraQueen in October this year, she will win.

Shermen Rose, as second runner-up, won 20,000 in cash and a 50-percent scholarship. Given more trainings, Shermen can be a candidate for Bb. Pilipinas.

During the pageant, I was seated near Mayor Monico Puentevella and he was all cheers for Nikki. I had a chance to talk to him about another MassKara Fashion Week this year which I chaired last year. He nodded so, hurray and thank you Mayor Monico!

Anyway, there were some revisions in this year's Lin-ay pageant, like when the candidates wore doll shoes during the swimsuit competition. In previous pageants, the candidates wore high heels.

I asked Ian why was it so. He explained that the organizers agreed to have a clearer look of the height and the body proportion of the candidates, so they made them wore doll shoes.

Most of the judges were good-looking. The board of judges was composed of Bench Body endorser Sam Ajdani, Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet, Miss Supranational 2012 third runner-up Alaine Kay Moll, Miss Earth-Air 2012 Stefany Stefanowitz and Mercator Artist and Model Management head Jonas Antonio Gaffud.

The hosts were Isabelle Daza, the very pretty daughter of Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, and the very talented Negrense Charles Kevin Tan.
Kapuso actors Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillio serenaded the candidates.

The Lin-ay coronation night was indeed a night of beauty and glamour for Negrenses.
