Two birthdays and a new home

-A A +A

WITH Nene Lacson in town just a few weeks after his birthday and with brother Artie celebrating his birthday as well, Nene decided to have a housewarming/birthday parties in his new home for a year, or perhaps more.

The evening was intimate with just close friends and relatives in attendance.

The new home, despite its unfinished state, looked splendid with Nene’s selection of fine antiquities that exudes his elegant taste. I can already visualize the total look. Nene is very “polido” when it comes to arrangements whether at work or at play especially in his home.

But this night, Nene took a side step and made the evening special just for Artie.

The cozy lanai with the sprawling garden and the swimming pool dictated the mood of the evening—cool and relaxing. It was just what I needed after a long and not so pleasant day.

The catered food was great served with the best lechon in town and two birthday cakes for Artie to blow as presented by sister Eva and niece Ann.

As the party was light and friendly, it gave a chance for everyone not only to exchange pleasantries but also to catch up with each other’s lives after some periods of absence.

Artie, one of the nine siblings of the Ledesma-Lacson clan, had his close friends in attendance. Larry Lacson with Derek Bage, who has made Bacolod his second home, were there. Good friends Dr. Rudy Patiño and Santi Joson were definitely around, as well as fellow pioneers in this new yet sought-after industry— tour guiding: Maricar Dabao and Betsy Gazo. You can count on these people if you want your guests to have a wholistic view and appreciation of Bacolod and the neighboring cities and towns.

Sister Eva L. Gorriceta insisted on this party together with her son, Chef George, and the very efficient Ann made sure that all preparations were in place according to Nene’s specifications.

It was good to see another sister, Marie, now Estrella with husband Rod. I have not realized that they have decided to make Bacolod home after years of living in the States and Manila.

Cousin Suzette Lacson came, too, after watching a violin performance, and late-comer likewise was Wayne Forte, who loves Bacolod. Lilia and Craig Scharlin and Miren Lopez Zayco, good friends of Nene, came to add to the relaxed ambience of the evening.

Tour guiding has been a career alternative for Artie. Once an educator, Artie now occupies himself with tour guiding pursuits and I have nothing but raves from my clients who I recommend to him.

Artie says that tour guiding is leisure time at work and allows him to enjoy life more! Isn’t that great to do a job but get a high from the fun meeting and interacting with a varied group of clientele? The task becomes a joy as you promote and sell the place that you love the most.

After quite a weary day, sometimes we just want to slump in bed, breathe a deep sigh, and exhale all the heaviness away. But there are some “must do” as well as “must go” in life and this was one of them because of deep lifetime friendships.

It turned out to be quite a delight.

Happy birthday, Artie and Nene! I love your home Ne!
