To be child-like in Hong Kong Disneyland

MICKEY and Minnie Mouse. Donald Duck. Cinderella. Sleeping Beauty. Dumbo the Flying Elephant. They amazed, hugged, and thrilled our little world when we were small.

Up to now, they still do. And with the addition of Winnie the Pooh, Mike and Sulley from Monsters University and Lilo and Stitch, we still delight the way animated films light up our weary world.

But of course, we got know these characters through books, movies, pencil erasers, shirts, toys and other keepsakes. To actually go near the animated creatures is quite a luxury. To have the opportunity to enjoy these creatures in our imagination is another.

Oh yes, to be like children again would be some kind of a wonderful experience. Now, I’m marking a clear line here between being child-like and being childish. Just like what every mature person would choose, I’d rather be the former than the latter.

As we embarked on the Disney train with much awe and joy, joining the children and adults prancing the long avenue to Disney’s main entrance, is one of my cherished moments.

To frolic in the rain, (yes, it rained when we visited the place) or be drenched by the Toy Story and Mickey Mouse characters during the waterworks parade and not get irritated but still maintain and keep the smiles and the laughs in our faces, and scream to our hearts’ delight— is a natural panacea for our weary bodies and minds.

Yes, I wasn’t singing in the rain! But I was also enjoying the rain drops in my Mickey Mouse plastic –honcho. So despite the heavy downpour, there we were, enjoying our Hong Kong Disneyland trip.

With photo-ops, boats, trains and simulated space rides, and walking through the main streets and the different “lands” in HK Disney, we have had our magical and memorable moments for nearly a day.

Add to these fun moments were popcorn, curls, chips and hotdogs, plus a real–like “Mickey Mouse” lunch (with the rice and the viand shaped like the head of Mickey) and our HK Disney adventure is indeed fun!

As for you, the choice is yours: all you have to do is check on the schedule for the day and the map guide of Disney. You can visit the Toy Story Land, Mystic Point, Grizzly Gulch, Adventureland, Main Street, USA, Tomorrow Land, and Fantasy land.

It’s just simple: enjoy the place, the fun, the ride, the food, and the camaraderie of family and friends.

In my case, I buckled my little adult pride and enjoyed traipsing the way-when-we-were-once-children lane, at HK Disney.
