KAPUSO celebs Andrea Torres, Mikael Daez, Solenn Heussaff and Jeric Gonzales heated up Hugyaw Silay Fetival last night at Silay Public Plaza.

Before the merry-making in Silay, Andrea, Mikael and Jeric headed to Bacolod to have an up-close meet-up session with the Bacolod press at Mely’s Garden Restaurant.

As their new soap opera “With A Smile” is kicking off this June 17, Monday, Andrea and Mikael are very excited to paint smiles on their fans’ faces.

Andrea said that her role as ‘Isay’ in her new teleserye is very much different from her character in “Sana ay Ikaw na nga” which was also starred by Mikael as her leading man.

“Yong sa dati naming soap, extreme ‘yong role ko. Extreme na mataray. Extreme na inaapi. Dito sa ‘With A Smile’, wacky ‘yong character ko na parang clumsy,” Andrea added.

She revealed that she and Mikael have already built a deep friendship. When asked if her reel leading man has a chance to be her partner for real, she candidly answered, “Lahat naman po ng bagay may chance. You can never tell.”

Andrea praised the fresh air in Bacolod and the warm welcome of the Bacolodnons, saying that it was her first time to be here in the city.

On the other hand, Mikael, who has not been able to visit Bacolod for some time, said that he missed his Bacolodnon fans and couldn’t wait to meet with them during their Hugyaw Silay Festival show.

Mikael portrayed the role of Carlos Miguel in “Sana ay Ikaw na nga” which he described as a heavy drama.

“Previously, mabigat ang character ko as Carlos Miguel. Dito naman sa ‘With A smile’, may pagka babaero, tapos friendly,” he said.

Mikael described their new TV series as a show that will surely bring good vibes to the viewers, adding that it was actually made to bring smiles to the audience.

For this, he said he has high hopes and good expectations for the show.

Meanwhile, the Protégé grand winner who is now part of the Teen Gen cast, Jeric, said he has always been overwhelmed by the reactions of his Bacolodnon fans even before he was still a hopeful in Protégé.

It was his third time visit in Bacolod yesterday, so he could really tell how warm his supporters here in the city are to him.

When asked how it felt to be in the real world of show business for almost eight months now, he said, “Mahirap. Parang freshman ako sa school. Maraming pressures at expectations.”

The nursing graduate celebrity revealed that he enjoys his being a star, stressing that he loves to act and sing.

So far, he said he considers his stint in GMA Telebabad’s “Love and Lies” as his big break in showbiz.

Jeric was humble enough to reveal that he still needs to enhance his skills as a performing artist. He said he is undergoing acting and singing workshop in GMA.

Solen, who had not been able to join in the press interview, joined the three in Silay City to take part in the Hugyaw Silay Festival. (Chona M. Malinog)
