WITH the opening of the SMX Convention Center at SM City Bacolod, hosting big events like conferences and meetings will now be possible for Bacolod City.

Thus, City Councilors Alex Paglomutan, and Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chair of the committee on tourism, local and international cooperation, has requested Mayor Monico Puentevella for the city’s support in developing specific policy strategies that aims to develop a strong set of strategies and course of action for Bacolod to become a top destination for national meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (Mice).

They asked that funds for these initiatives be included in the 2015 budget.

This will be for the promotion and strengthening of the City of Bacolod as a destination for national and international Mice events, they added.

They said that to promote Bacolod as Mice location of the Philippines, the city must invest and place a premium on continuing private and public sector collaboration to achieve the goal.

The Council recently passed City Ordinance No. 08-14-680 or an ordinance passed for the promotion and strengthening of the City of Bacolod as a chosen destination for the holding of national and international meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. (CNC)
